Difference Between Last Minute & Advance Purchase

Choosing the right lead time restriction for your Rate Type in RMS.

    What are Lead Time Restrictions

Lead Time refers to the time between a guest making their reservation and the arrival date of their reservation.

Promotions can be run to capitalise on Lead Time trends, improving overall occupancy levels.

    Last Minute Rates

Last Minute Rates capitalise on those last minute bookers and provide the ability to entice guests to fill those last available spaces close to the arrival date.

When setting these up in RMS, the number of days lead time is the maximum days in advance from arrival that the guest can book to qualify for this rate.

    Advance Purchase Rates

Advance Purchase Rates are designed to entice early bookers to commit sooner by providing incentives for booking a certain period of time in advance of their arrival.

When setting these up in RMS, the number of days lead time is the minimum number of days in advance from arrival that the guest can book in order to qualify for this rate.

    Lead Time Reports

Revenue Managers can use either the Reservation by Lead Time Report or the Online Reservations by Lead Time Report to review trends for booking lead times in RMS.
