Duetto Interface
Steps required to setup the Duetto interface in RMS.
For optimal results with the Duetto interface to RMS the following steps should be completed in sequence and to completion prior to continuing in the process.
- Determine Duetto Requirements & Strategy
- Update RMS Settings
- Historical Data Correction
- Initial Data Sync to Duetto
- Data Verification & Duetto System Training
Select any step below to expand and view the additional information related to that step of the process.
Step 1: Determine Duetto Requirements & Strategy
The critical first step in enabling the Duetto interface is to ensure the property's RMS data is segmented in a way that allows Duetto to gain a detailed insight into the property's reservation patterns.
Correctly configured segmentation in RMS is the only way that the Duetto system can provide accurate pricing decisions for the property.
Contact Duetto to gain an understanding of their system requirements and discuss the property's specific objectives prior to making any modifications to the property's RMS settings.
Categories & Areas, Market Segments and Rate Types are mandatory requirements in RMS to facilitate the Duetto decision system to work effectively.
The property's revenue management team should liaise with the Duetto team to ensure the property's current configuration of these features in RMS will produce the best results from the Duetto system.
By the end of completing Step 1 it should be established which Market Segments will be used in RMS and which Rate Types are applicable to those Market Segments. It should also be decided which Categories & Areas Duetto will manage for the property.
Step 2: Update RMS Settings
On completion of Step 1 the property's required Categories & Areas, Market Segments and Rate Types have been established.
In this step, the System Administrator for the property will be required to update the RMS setup to match these requirements.
-
Categories & Areas
Each Category & Area Duetto will manage for the property will require the Code field to be setup.
Categories will be represented in Duetto by this Code setup in RMS.
Codes must be unique for each property and have a maximum length of 50 characters.
-
Market Segments
Market Segments should be setup in RMS with both a Code & Description.
Market Segments will be represented in Duetto by the Code setup in RMS.
To ensure continued success with the Duetto interface it is recommended to set the Market Segment field as a mandatory field on the Reservation Screen for all users.
-
Rate Types
All Rate Types setup in RMS must be setup to include a Code and an applicable Market Segment. For Rate Decision Upload, please provide Duetto the Rate Type Name.
This includes current and future Rate Types as well as those from the previous 2 years of operation for the property.
-
Optional - Discounts
Any Discounts setup in RMS that are applicable to specific Market Segments should be updated to ensure the appropriate Market Segments have been assigned to them in RMS.
Any Discount without a Market Segment applied to it's setup will default to the Market Segment applied on the Rate Type.
Market Segments set on a Discount will override the Market Segment set on the Rate Type in RMS.
-
Optional - Travel Agents
Any Travel Agents setup in RMS that form part of a specific Market Segment should have the appropriate Market Segment applied to the Travel Agent Profile in RMS.
Travel Agents without a Market Segment in their setup will default to using the Market Segment on the Rate Type.
Market Segments setup on a Travel Agent will override the Market Segment set on the Discount and Rate Type.
-
Optional - Online Channels
Any connected channel setup in RMS that form part of a specific Market Segment should have the appropriate Market Segment applied to the Channel Setup in RMS.
Connected channels without a Market Segment specified will use the Market Segment on the Discount or Rate Type.
Market Segments setup against a connected channel will override any set on the Discount or Rate Type.
Step 3: Historical Data Correction
The Duetto algorithm requires a minimum of 12 months (24 if possible) historical data to perform correctly.
If the property's RMS configuration was adjusted during Step 2 a correction algorithm for historical RMS data will be required to ensure RMS historical data reflects these changes.
RMS has created a collection of data correction algorithms for historical data in RMS preventing the requirement for manually adjusting this historical information.
Due to the nature of the RMS Correction Algorithms these changes cannot be undone.
It is important to fully complete Step 2 prior to requesting the Historical Data Correction from RMS.
Once Step 2 has been completed and verified by the property's System Administrator and Revenue Management Team, Log a Service Request with RMS requesting the Historical Data Correction for Duetto be performed.
Step 4: Initial Data Sync to Duetto
On successful completion of Steps 1,2 & 3 the property's System Administrator can configure Duetto as the property's Rate Manager and perform the initial data sync to Duetto.
The initial data sync will begin within 30 minutes of setup completion and can take up to 6 hours to complete.
Duetto will be able to confirm with the property once the initial data sync has been completed.
Step 5: Data Verification & Duetto System Training
On completion of the initial data sync to Duetto the property's System Administrator and Revenue Management Team will need to verify the data configuration in RMS has been accurately reflected in the Duetto system.
During this process the Duetto team will train the property how to operate the Duetto system.
Contact the Duetto team for more information on this process.
